What is a Pre-Learner License Course and why do we have to do the course? -It is a mandatory training program that people must complete before they can apply for a learner driver’s license in the ACT. -It introduces leaners to basic knowledge, skills and attitudes that are required to start learning to drive safely.
How long is the course? -The course is separated into two parts across for two days for a total of 10 hours with 5 hours each day since ACT course delivery requirements require this course to be "delivered over a minimum one and a half day period".
Delivery mode of the course? -The course is mostly provided online.
Course fee? -$155 which also includes two free attempts of the driving knowledge test.
Who needs to take this course? -First-time drivers or those who do not have an ACT drivers’ licence must complete this course before applying for the ACT Learner license.
What are the documents required for the course? -Valid proof of ID such as passport, proof of ID issued by Access Canberra or a Student ID (if you are still studying). The ID should contain your name, photo and date of birth.
What happens after the course? -You will need to sit for the knowledge test then a certificate of completion and the test result will be issued. To book the test, you can contact the course coordinator. -You then need to go to Access Canberra to apply for the learner license.
How is the Driving Knowledge Test Conducted? -The test is usually conducted online via zoom on a set date and time with the trainer and learner. We also offer the choice to come in person at our office in Mitchell to do the test. -The facilitator will provide you with the contact details for you to book for the test once the course is completed.
What are the documents required to take to Access Canberra? -If you are applying for your learner license, you need to take a proof of address and proof of ID along with the certificate of completion and test result. -If you want to convert your overseas license, you need to take a proof of address, proof of ID, your overseas license along with the certificate of completion and test result.

How can I apply for a heavy vehicle license? -You need to sit for the heavy vehicle driving knowledge test and then enrol with a heavy vehicle driving school. -You must have held the ACT full license for 2 years.
How can I apply for a two-wheeler license? -You still need to complete the Pre-Learner License Course and sit for the DKT and the enrol for ACT Learner Motorcycle Rider Training Course provided by Stay Upright (https://www.stayupright.com.au/)
Can we get practical lessons after completing the course? -Yes, after you have completed the Pre-Learner Licence Course, our Accredited Driving Instructors offer practical lessons.
